Simon is healing (slowly) and I thought it was time for a new outfit post. There are a number of new things in this picture, although not one of them is the clothing.
Only the Cardigan came into my closet within the last couple of months. The remainder I’ve had for some time!
The other new things are two-fold: New haircut, including bangs (which may or may not be something I keep – I’m open to opinions) and new (temporary) teeth.
I’ve had veneers on my front 2 teeth for a long time, primarily due to breaking a tooth rollerskating at age 12. However they were cheap, old, ill-fitting and kind of crappy. I’m getting them replaced. For the first time in my entire life really, I can smile without worrying about whether the bad veneers show, the gap between my front teeth is obvious or the smile shows an awful lot of my gums. The veneers fix those problems. The current set is temporary while the permanent ones are being made and within a couple of weeks, I will never have to worry about my smile again!
Which means I will probably smile more. In the meantime, this is a terrific outfit for a day at work – comfortable, relatively cool, and pulled together enough for meetings.
Blogger secret: Sometimes the best outfit is the one that doesn’t require you to change your purse!
Admittedly, this outfit takes bright to a whole other level. But since I am working hard to resist all my gorgeous dark colors and enjoy summer for a while longer, I pulled out these separates.
- Skirt: Pyramid Collection (Fire Midi-skirt)
- Sweater: Coldwater Creek (RIP)
- Tank: J. Jill (Perfect Tank)
- Sandals: Orthaheel (older)
- Necklace: via Little Black Bag (RIP)
- Bracelets: Kenneth J. Lane Bangles (LBB) and Kate Spade Pardon My French Bangle, all Orange
- Bag: Kate Spade (Kirk Park Maise, similar)
(See, I even smiled for this picture…)
In a perfect world, this skirt would have been 1) some kind of knit, 2) maxi length and 3) an elastic waist. Unfortunately it’s a very lightweight cotton, a long midi-length on me, and has a set in waist. You can already see the start of the wrinkles and by the time I got home it was a LOT worse.
Before I left my office to take these pictures I actually put lipstick on. Damned if I know how it disappeared in the 15 minutes it took me to get from my office to this little nook I’ve been using for pictures.
One other thing I can clearly see in these pictures – time for a haircut.
I realized as I was flipping through this blog that I actually wore almost this exact same outfit a before. I changed up the shoes and the jewelry and the bag, but the basics are there. The big difference is that the last time I wore this outfit I needed the cardigan.
This time I took it off when I left the building to avoid roasting in 114 degree heat.
None of this stuff is new, so I apologize for the lack of links to the items…
- Dress: Lands End
- Cardigan: Marshalls
- Shoes: Orthaheel
- Bracelet and Necklace: Got in swaps – no name brands
- Purse: Kate Spade Outlet
You will be pleased to hear that this is my very LAST outfit post using my phone. While I don’t have a photographer and there was no sense buying an expensive camera that I wouldn’t know how to use anyway, I did pick up a Canon Powershot ELPH 340, Consumer Reports’ best reviewed subcompact camera. While this isn’t a pro camera, it does have a few neat features such as the ability to use my phone as a remote control. That should improve picture quality. I also discovered that you can get a quite decent 60 inch tripod from Amazon for $19.99, which should also help. (Previously I was using a 5 inch tripod and finding places to balance the camera – it was a frustrating process.) Onward and upward.
