A Walking Kate Spade Billboard

IMG_1442I feel a bit like a walking Kate Spade billboard today.  First there is my beloved bag, which has garnered me, on average, 1-3 compliments PER DAY since I got it.  On top of that, it’s the perfect size and shape for my day to day life.  Then there are the necklace and bracelet; both christmas presents.

  • Black Ponte Trousers (Coldwater Creek)
  • Black Emmylou Tunic (SWAK)
  • Red Carole Little Jacket (Marshall’s)
  • Deborah Dot Little Nadine purse (Kate Spade)
  • Levitt Squares Necklace (Kate Spade)
  • Pardon My French Bracelet (Kate Spade)
  • Black Ankle Boots (Ecco, old)

The bracelet makes me smile.  It doesn’t appear to be available any longer, so I’m glad I got it when I did.  Technically it’s orange, not red, but close enough!

The necklace is also fun, but more importantly it’s really my signature colors; red and purple.  For a VERY long time I’ve had red and purple against a black background as my signature colors, so this necklace was a must-have once I found it.  It’s also older and harder to find these days, but I’m glad husband managed it for christmas!  Of course looking at the picture this close to the bracelet, it’s starting to look more ORANGE and purple, but that’s OK.  It’s still a LOT of fun!

Next week I am traveling for work, so I am starting to think about which items I want to take with me.  My guess is that these two pieces of jewelry will be coming along.  I’m not sure about the bag; I need to take a rollaboard suitcase, so usually you can only take one other bag on board.  That has to be beg enough to hold my macbook air as well as my normal purse stuff. And since I’m there on business I will be taking the air everywhere.  I have a very nice (and LARGE) orange tote, so I might go with black, orange and purple for the trip.  That will all get sorted out this weekend.

Wow Wow Wednesday with This Girls Life

Friday fun!

IMG_1268Back in September I posted how much I wanted this particular Kate Spade bag.  During the after-christmas sale, it FINALLY came down to a price I could deal with (although still hardly cheap) and I pulled the trigger. I am REALLY happy I did, because the color combination I wanted is no longer available.  When it arrived yesterday, I KNEW I needed to build an outfit around it.

  • Kate Spade Deborah Dot Little Nadine bag in Red!!!
  • Black Ponte Jeggings (Lane Bryant)
  • Black “Peplum” Tank (Alloy)
  • Black Boots (Avenue)
  • Grey Cardigan (Eileen Fisher, purchased off eBay)
  • Red Leopard Scarf (TJ Maxx)
  • Red Leather Bracelet (not visible)

This is a terrific friday outfit – comfortable, easy to wear, warm and fun.  The cardigan actually has some nice detailing at the waist to keep it from being shapeless.  And while I love experimenting with new colors and styles, I have to admit that this is a very “me” outfit in terms of styles, fabrics and colors.

Gwynnie Bee Item 2 and Browns

Today’s outfit features the 2nd item from my Gwynnie Bee order, The Igigi Sakura Cardigan in Multi.  It’s soft, cozy and I love the colors.  It comes with a belt which, after playing with, didn’t get worn; apparently my figure is a little too apple and not hourglass enough to make it work.  It just made my butt look REALLY big.

  • Igigi Sakura Cardigan in Multi; via Gwynnie Bee
  • Rust tank, Marshalls
  • Brown Knit Jeans, Coldwater Creek (which I appear to need a size smaller…)
  • Olive and Camo Sperry Top-siders, previously worn here
  • Gold bracelet, gift
  • Necklace, can’t recall where I got it
  • Glasses: Goggles4u.com (prescription eyeglasses at a killer enough price that I got a pair of sunglasses the last time I ordered!)

I am seriously considering ordering this and want your opinion;

  • Great enough looking to own?
  • Just OK?
  • Too specific (ie hard to style with other things)?
  • Nice but I should save my money for another purse?  Or something else I suppose…

Of course speaking of other purses, one of my issues this morning was that I didn’t appear to HAVE a purse that matched or coordinated.  The new one I posted about yesterday is bright green (and also not here yet), and I had been thinking about the need for a nice dark brown purse.  I found this and ordered it:

This is the Fossil Vintage Revival Flap in Giraffe, and I am head over heels in love with this bag!  It’s a great size, gorgeous design, has some swagger to it without being colorful and was, by the time I was done, 36% off.  It is neutral enough to go with anything in the browns, but still fun, which is exactly what I wanted to find!

I may need to do something about my growing purse fetish soon…. Wait until you see the funky one I picked up on ebay today.

Inspiration Monday for Thanksgiving Week

It’s hard NOT to love a short week at work.  Not only is it, well, a short week, but it ALSO means no one cares what I wear to the office.  Thus my ability to participate in this weeks Inspiration Monday.  This weeks Inspiration was this picture:

Now, I admit that I don’t have a lot in the way of that kind of neutral; they just aren’t great colors on me.  And I realized when I went looking that, uhm, I didn’t have a SINGLE stripped shirt.  (I ordered one on clearance about a week ago from J.Jill but it isn’t here yet.)  So my interpretation is a bit loose.  However it’s VERY me; my colors, my style, and totally comfortable.

The boots were a fun find yesterday at Avenue; marked down and then 40% off that, so they came out to $36.  Plus the styling on them is fun and a little butch.  Instead of trying to hide the inside zipper, they matched it with an OUTSIDE zipper and some neat straps.  Fun!  They aren’t even a little leather, but since I only can wear boots for about 3 months out of the year this was about all I felt comfortable spending on a new pair this season.

I bought myself an early christmas present today, though.  As you may have noticed, I love bags, but I’m a bit of a cheapskate.  I’m not about to pay multiple hundreds of dollars, let alone THOUSANDS of dollars, for something that is going to get tossed around, sit on the floor, and otherwise beaten up.  However I’ve had two things I’ve been thinking I wanted to get lately:

  • A purse that was predominantly black and white; check, houndstooth, zebra, something…
  • A green purse
So I was unbelievably excited today to find this purse, on sale at Kate Spade for 60% off it’s original price.  Combined with a 15% off coupon for joining the mailing list, this clocked in at $108 including tax for a $295 bag.  I am VERY happy with that deal.  It should be here next week!
